Telugu festival where married women fast for the well-being and long life of their husbands.
Atlu means dosa. Kept by married women for their husbands' long life and by unmarried women for a good husband, eleven dosas are offered to the goddess and eleven given to married women. The fast runs from before dawn until moonrise, and the moon must be sighted. Girls apply gorintaku (henna) the night before and swing on decorated swings.
